Founding Partner

Hongchang “Richard” Deng is the Founding Attorney of LawMay P.C., a U.S.-based law firm dedicated to representing cross-border e-commerce businesses in complex intellectual property litigation. Licensed to practice in both China and California, and admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Richard brings a unique dual-jurisdiction perspective to every case. He is also a registered U.S. patent attorney, a Chinese patent agent, and a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).

Recognized as a rising star in foreign-related legal services by both Guangdong Province and the City of Shenzhen, Richard also serves as an expert member of the Guangdong Intellectual Property Protection Association. His achievements have been repeatedly acknowledged through numerous awards, including:

Richard has successfully led numerous cases in U.S. federal courts involving declaratory judgment (DJ) actions, motions for Temporary Restraining Orders (TROs), and preliminary injunctions to lift malicious Amazon takedowns. He has also represented clients in Section 337 investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), and in patent validity challenges before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

Richard is known for delivering swift and effective results in high-pressure, time-sensitive scenarios. In one landmark case, he helped a client restore its core Amazon listings within ten business days by obtaining a TRO from the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington—likely the first instance where such relief was granted on a first application in a cross-border IP dispute.
