Privacy Policy

LawMay P.C. (“LawMay,” “we,” or “us”) respects the privacy of visitors to www.lawmayus.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have. A Chinese version is available at 隐私政策 (中文).

(a) Information you provide.When you contact us through the Site’s contact form, we collect the name, email address or phone number, and message you choose to submit. Providing this information is entirely voluntary.

(b) Technical information collected automatically. As with most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information in server logs (such as IP address, browser type, access time, and pages visited) for security and site-operations purposes.

(c) Language preference.The Site stores a single language preference (Chinese or English) in your browser’s local storage so that the Site displays in your preferred language on return visits.

The Site uses two layers of website analytics. The second layer is used only with your consent.

(a) Basic visit statistics (always on; no cookies). We use Vercel Web Analytics to measure aggregate information such as visit counts, pages viewed, referring sites, country or region, and device type. This service does not set cookies or store any identifier on your device. The provider derives an anonymous counting identifier from request information (including IP address and browser information) that is valid for a single day and is not used to identify you. We remove query parameters from page addresses before they are reported.

(b) Analytics cookies (only after you click “Accept”). With your consent, we use Google Analytics (Google LLC) to understand how visitors use the Site so that we can improve its content and design. This information includes pages viewed and time spent, on-page interactions such as scrolling and clicks, referral source, device and browser type, and approximate location inferred from IP address. We have disabled Google signals and ad personalization; this data is used only in aggregate reports and is not used for advertising, sold, or used for cross-site tracking.

Cookies used: Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_*(up to about 2 years). Google Analytics event data is retained for 14 months. This data is processed by Google in the United States; by clicking “Accept,” you consent to the transfer of this information to the United States for these purposes.

(c) Local storage. The Site uses browser local storage to keep two items: your Chinese or English language preference, and your analytics-cookie choice together with the time you made it. These remain on your device and are not sent to LawMay.

Your choices.On your first visit, the Site displays a cookie banner where you may choose “Accept” or “Decline”; declining does not limit access to any content. You may change your choice at any time through “Cookie Settings” at the bottom of each page. If you withdraw consent, analytics cookies are cleared and no longer load; withdrawal does not affect processing carried out on the basis of your consent before withdrawal.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use your information for marketing unrelated to your inquiry.

We use the information you provide only to:

• respond to and communicate with you about your inquiry;
• run a conflict-of-interest check before any engagement is formed;
• maintain Site security and diagnose technical issues.

We use the following service providers to operate the Site, each of which processes limited information on our behalf:

• Web3Forms (form delivery): content you submit through the contact form is transmitted via this service to our firm email;
• Vercel (website hosting and basic visit statistics): hosts the Site, records the server logs described above, and provides the cookie-free visit statistics described in Section 02;
• Google Analytics (website analytics): processes the analytics data described in Section 02, only with your consent;
• images accompanying certain earlier articles may be served from a third-party content delivery network (CDN); your browser makes a standard network request when loading such images.

These providers process information only to deliver their respective services, and we do not authorize them to use your information for any other purpose.

Other than the providers listed above, we do not share your personal information with any third party, except where disclosure is required by law (for example, by court order or regulatory requirement).

We retain your information only as long as needed for the purposes described above. If you engage LawMay, related information is retained in accordance with professional-responsibility and record-keeping requirements. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information.

You may ask what information we hold about you and request correction or deletion (except where retention is required by law). To exercise these rights, email attorney@lawmayus.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

The Site is hosted on servers located in the United States. If you access the Site or submit information from outside the United States, you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

The Site is directed to businesses and adult individuals. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
