Several months ago, a client’s trademark portfolio suffered a crisis due to attorney-related issues. Among them, the registration process of a key associated trademark in the United States hit a major snag. The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) suspended the examination of this trademark for nearly two years, citing likelihood of confusion and lack of distinctiveness (merely descriptive). Faced with such a critical situation, the client was in urgent need of a professional, highly efficient legal team to salvage this pivotal trademark.

After learning about the client’s predicament, Attorney Deng’s team took on the case despite immense pressure, acting swiftly to conduct an in-depth analysis of the case details. Through professional legal arguments and compelling supporting evidence, they addressed the issue of trademark confusion and successfully persuaded the USPTO to resume the examination process.

Furthermore, leveraging extensive legal research, the team collected and organized strong evidence and materials from the client, resolving the problem of the trademark’s lack of distinctiveness in a strategic manner.

Eventually, thanks to the joint efforts of Attorney Deng Hongchang, Attorney Wu Minzhi and trainee attorney Xiao Xinyan from the team, the trademark successfully passed the preliminary examination and is currently in the preliminary approval publication stage.

From the trademark crisis to its remarkable turnaround, Attorney Deng’s team leveraged professional legal expertise, extensive hands-on experience and highly efficient service mindset to successfully help the client turn the tide on the critical trademark predicament in the U.S. market, thereby earning the client’s full trust and unanimous acclaim.
